03 Why PYM

Built Different.
By Design.

Every other camp runs drills. PYM runs a system. Here is what separates us.

// 01 — Data
Data-Driven
Development

We track, measure, and report on every player using our proprietary 12-metric Shooting Lab — real numbers, not opinions.

// 02 — Mind
Psychology
Backed

Founded by a school counselor with a Psychology degree and 15+ years of coaching. We understand how young athletes develop mentally and physically.

// 03 — System
Structured
System

Not pickup ball. PYM runs structured phases — Baseline, Development, Application, Performance — with benchmarks and measurable growth at every stage.

// 04 — STEM
STEM
Integration

Our Profound STEM Basketball program fuses data literacy with sport — teaching students to analyze, interpret, and apply real performance data to their game.

// 05 — Character
Accountability
Model

Behavior tracking, leadership development, and scoring systems build discipline on and off the court. We develop character, not just skill.

// 06 — Proof
Proven In
Philadelphia

Already running as a school enrichment program in Philadelphia schools — trusted by educators, coaches, and families since 2017.

Built By A Coach
Who Stayed.

I started Profound Youth Movement in 2017 because Philadelphia kids deserved better than what the youth basketball scene was giving them. Pickup ball wrapped in a registration fee. No real development. No real measurement. No real follow-through.

PYM was the answer — basketball, structure, data, and accountability in one program. Built around a 12-metric Shooting Lab, behavior tracking systems, and a 4-phase development model. Built so a parent walks away from camp with measurable proof their kid grew, not just a t-shirt.

"

We don't run camps. We run development systems. Every kid leaves with a number, a report, and a plan — not just a memory.

// Why It Matters

Most youth basketball programs are run by coaches. PYM is run by a school counselor with a Psychology degree — which is why the program tracks behavior, builds discipline, and treats player development as a structured, measurable process. Basketball is the vehicle. Growth is the goal.

05 PYM Shooting Lab

We Don't Guess.
We Measure Data.

The PYM Shooting Lab tracks every player across 10 court zones and 12 elite metrics. The result: the PYM Shooter Rating — a 0–100 composite score that tells every player, parent, and coach exactly where that player stands and what they need to improve.

No other youth program in Philadelphia puts a number this precise on player development.

06 PYM Shooter Rating · NBA All-Time

The Greatest
Of All Time.

The same 12-metric PYM Shooter Rating applied to the greatest players in NBA history. Career stats. Same benchmarks. Same formula. No adjustments for era — the system measures shooting the way it was designed to.

Only one player in history scores Elite. The formula exposes the difference between great scorers and great shooters — and the gap is wider than most people think.

Curry is the only Elite shooter in NBA history
The only player in history to hit the Elite tier. 42.2% career 3PT at volume, 91.2% FT, 58.2% eFG — every box checked. No one else is close.
The formula is brutal to the pre-3PT era
Kareem at #19, Shaq at #20 — despite being arguably top-5 all time. Kareem's 55.7% eFG is elite, but he scores zero on all three 3PT metrics. They weren't shooters by PYM's definition. The system is honest about that.
LeBron at #8 — the free throw problem
73.5% FT is the only thing keeping him out of the top 3. His eFG% and volume are elite. The formula penalizes the line the same way PYM does with youth players — make your free throws.
Kobe at #14 — scorer vs. shooter
48.2% eFG and 32.9% from three. The data is honest — Kobe was an elite scorer, not an elite shooter. PYM draws that line clearly.
07 PYM In The NBA · 2025–26

The Formula
Meets The NBA.

The same 12-metric PYM Shooter Rating we use to evaluate youth players — built directly from the PYM Shooting Lab — applied to the best shooters in the NBA 2025–26 season. No opinions. The same formula, the same benchmarks, the same composite score.

What the formula sees this season: volume + efficiency + line discipline. The names that rise are not always the ones you'd expect.

Why Knueppel ranks #1
His 43.7% from three is the best among high-volume qualifiers this season. PYM's formula rewards perimeter shooting efficiency hard — that's by design. A pure shooter by every metric the system values.
Why Curry ranks #10
39 games played this season. His shooting metrics alone rank top 3. The attendance component and improvement baseline pull him down — the formula penalizes availability just like PYM does in camp.
Why Holmgren ranks #18
Highest eFG% on the entire list at 60.7%. But 34.4% from three drags the composite down. Elite finisher — not yet an elite shooter by PYM standards. The formula separates the two.
What this means for camp
Your player is graded by the same formula. The same benchmarks that put Curry, Durant, and Knueppel where they are will tell us exactly where your player stands and what to fix.
